Hard Rock Stadium

Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, brings the Latin American football passion of South Florida to the World Cup stage. Home to the NFL's Miami Dolphins and the Miami Open tennis tournament, this venue has undergone multiple transformations throughout its history. The open-air design, South Florida humidity, and Miami's status as the unofficial capital of Latin America make matches here uniquely atmospheric. For World Cup 2026, Hard Rock Stadium will host group stage and knockout matches. Miami's massive Latin American community — particularly from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, and Central America — guarantees electric atmospheres regardless of the teams playing.

Stadium History

Originally opened as Joe Robbie Stadium in 1987, it has been known by many names over the decades. A $500 million renovation in 2015-2017 added the signature canopy roof that covers spectators while leaving the field open to the elements. It has hosted six Super Bowls (most recently in 2020), two World Series, and the Miami Open tennis tournament since 2019. For soccer, it has hosted numerous international matches, including El Clásico during summer tours, drawing massive crowds.

Did You Know?

The stadium's location — built on former swampland — means the water table is just a few feet below the playing surface. The field is actually elevated above ground level. And despite being in Miami, the stadium has hosted an NHL Winter Classic outdoor hockey game (on a specially built rink, of course).
