Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, is an architectural masterpiece and one of the world's most technologically advanced sports venues. The retractable roof — inspired by a camera aperture — features eight triangular panels that open and close in a mesmerizing circular motion. Home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and MLS's Atlanta United (who set MLS attendance records here), this venue represents Atlanta's emergence as a world-class sports city. For World Cup 2026, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host multiple matches including a semi-final. Atlanta's status as a global transportation hub (Hartsfield-Jackson is the world's busiest airport) makes it incredibly accessible for international visitors.

Stadium History

Opened in 2017 as the replacement for the Georgia Dome, Mercedes-Benz Stadium cost $1.6 billion and immediately set new standards for fan experience and sustainability (it's the first professional sports stadium to achieve LEED Platinum certification). It hosted Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2018. Atlanta United's 2018 MLS Cup victory here drew over 73,000 fans — an MLS record.

Did You Know?

The stadium's commitment to 'fan-first pricing' is legendary — a hot dog costs just $2, a soda with unlimited refills is $2, and a beer starts at $5. This pricing philosophy, championed by owner Arthur Blank, has been widely praised and will be maintained during World Cup matches, making it the most affordable venue for food and drinks in tournament history.
