Stadium History
Originally opened as Joe Robbie Stadium in 1987, it has been known by many names over the decades. A $500 million renovation in 2015-2017 added the signature canopy roof that covers spectators while leaving the field open to the elements. It has hosted six Super Bowls (most recently in 2020), two World Series, and the Miami Open tennis tournament since 2019. For soccer, it has hosted numerous international matches, including El Clรกsico during summer tours, drawing massive crowds.
